Next Show We are planning three new plays in 2012 which will be staged readings unless the funding becomes available to have them fully produced. Please contact us for copies of the scripts.
1. Our 90 minute play Midsummer Night’s Madness, in which a group of juvenile delinquents discover the religious allegories in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, leading to disastrous results, will be trialed at the historic Naumburg Bandshell in Central Park at 6:15 PM on Thursday, August 2, 2012. Free. It may also be staged at the Midtown International Theater Festival. Director Jenny Greeman. 2. In 2009 we held a Festival of plays about Lanier which included Mr-Shakespeare-and-Amelia-A-Short-Play and the difficulty in writing the first book of original poetry published by a woman in The Writing of Salve Deus. A video extract from the prize-winning short play is here. (with Craig Newman as Mr Shakespeare and Laura Princiotta as Amelia, directed by Gina Marie Jamieson). It was written by Bella Poynton at the Iowa Writers Workshop. We are developing with Poynton our full length play The Dark Lady for a cast of six and set partly in the 17th century and partly in modern times. 3.Our short play Exploding the Western Canon is planned for the FIGMENT festival on Governors Island 9-10 June together with our Shakespeare Flash Mob. 4. Also watch out for a staged reading illustrating the allegories in Twelfth Night, some of which are described here.
